Baird & McGregor Lawyers is seeking a Family Lawyer to join our growing Family Law team in Ballarat.

We welcome applications from lawyers at all stages of their career, from recently admitted practitioners through to experienced family law solicitors.

This full-time role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of family law matters, including parenting disputes, property settlements, divorce proceedings, child support, intervention orders and financial agreements.

The level of responsibility, autonomy, mentoring and career development will be tailored to your experience and career goals.

About the Role

As a Family Lawyer at Baird & McGregor, you will work closely with our experienced legal team while developing your advocacy, negotiation and client management skills.

Your work will include:

  • Providing practical and solution-focused legal advice across a range of family law matters

  • Managing family law files with an appropriate level of supervision and support

  • Preparing and reviewing legal documents, including parenting plans, consent orders, affidavits and financial agreements

  • Representing clients in mediations, negotiations, court events and hearings

  • Briefing and liaising with counsel

  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Working collaboratively with lawyers and support staff across the firm

  • Contributing to the continued growth of our Family Law practice

  • Keeping up to date with developments in family law legislation and practice

About You

We are looking for a lawyer who is committed to providing practical, client-focused legal advice and who wants to continue developing their career in family law.

You will have:

  • Admission as an Australian Lawyer with a current practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one

  • Experience in family law

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A client-focused approach and a genuine desire to assist people through challenging circumstances

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Strong drafting, negotiation and problem-solving abilities

  • A willingness to learn, develop professionally and contribute to a collaborative team environment
